Tour British Columbia’s Longest River

Join the Fraser River Discovery Centre’s Quayside Walking Tours with Mike Hoyer and learn about British Columbia’s longest river – the Fraser – as you stroll along New West’s beautiful boardwalk. You will be guided through diverse life that live and have lived within the river, the history of trades that were conducted and culture that grew there. A perfect educational activity for the whole family this Spring Break! Tours will take place rain or shine so come prepared! Register for their historical walking tours here.

Bored of scrolling through your social media and looking to experience art and culture this Spring Break? Immerse yourself in art through New West’s free public art galleries such as Massey Theatre’s Plaskett Gallery and Anvil Centre’s Galleries featuring artists’ exhibits right in front of you. Observe and enjoy artwork through the perspectives of diverse artists through an authentic experience of fine art culture. Open Tuesdays to Friday from 1pm to 4pm and during performances this Spring, come by appointment and when the Massey Theatre and Box Office are open. Book an appointment to see Anvil’s galleries and check out their events, community programs and workshops!

Are your kids interested in doing a camp this Spring? Youth camps at the New Media Gallery located in Anvil Centre are inspiring young creative minds to tell their own stories and create artwork from March 21-25. Two camps are available called “Film Documentary Camp” focusing on the influence of creativity in telling documentary stories and “Public Art Camp” focusing on creating art for a specific place. Register your kids online at their website here! There is always something going on for everyone to keep the arts and culture alive and supported.

Learn how to knit at Cosy Yarns, make jewelry at One Thing with empowering messages or notes, play some board games at Rain City Games and more! After a day filled with amusing activities, grab a bite to eat at the eateries available at River Market to end the day with delicious food. River Market is where fun and food collide all in one!
