Art in the City: Icons or Eyesores?

November 21, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

The origins of public art date back to antiquity, and the value of art in the public sphere has been debated ever since. The same piece can both inspire and draw ire; with so much controversy surrounding public art, it begs the question: Does public art enhance our city? Or is it a blight on the urban landscape?

FEATURING
– Julian Brooks, Instructor, Department of History, Douglas College
– Mary Trentadue, City Councillor, City of New Westminster
– Darcy Cutler (moderator), Instructor, Department of Philosophy and Humanities, Douglas College

Art in the City is an Urban Challenges Forum presented by Douglas College, SFU Urban Studies and the City of New Westminster.
