2:55-3:45pm: Devon More

Devon More is a dynamic singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and genre-bending stage performer whose alternative folk songs captivate with storyful lyrics, infectious melodies, and orchestral nuances. Her solo album, Sky Is Falling, explores themes of wanderlust, revolution, and love in 3 languages.
 
Drawing inspiration from her background in classical music and theatre, along with her smalltown BC roots and four transformative years spent living in Berlin, Germany – Devon curiously reimagines classic cover songs and poets insight over live-looped electro-soundscapes featuring electric guitar, flute, glockenspiel, and spacious bass.

Of Dutch and Scottish heritage, Devon grew up on ʃəˈhwɛpəm (Secwépemc) territory, and now resides with her dog as a guest on the traditional, ancestral and unsurrendered Coast Salish territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations.

4:10-5:10pm: The Vanrays

Formed in East Vancouver, Canada in 2016 by veteran musicians with a shared love of Soul and  R&B classics, The Vanrays have put their own EastVan stamp on the genre.

They keep venues packed thanks to energetic and gritty performances with soulful vocals, deep grooves, punchy horns and memorable melodies.

Wherever they play, The Vanrays fill dance floors leaving happy fans in their wake. All cleaned up and ready to meet your parents  Kind of.

It’s a Motown beat down in a shark skin suit. It’s wailing like its gospel while they’re laying in the boots.
It’s a curb stomping rhythm on the corner of control. It’s a nod in the direction, when all the shoes had leather souls.

And to when those shoes were twisting, to Otis and to James.  And so now do, The Vanrays too, we are here to do the same.

5:35-6:25pm: Kyle Hensby & the Rowdy Spurs

Kyle Hensby & the Rowdy Spurs bring high-energy country music from Maple Ridge, BC. For nearly a decade, they’ve lit up stages across the province with a sound that blends traditional chicken pickin’ with modern, boot-stomping rhythms. Born from Kyle’s personal journey through hardship and a deep love for country music legends, the band delivers heartfelt storytelling and crowd-moving performances. They’ve played major events like the Cloverdale Rodeo, Canada Day at the Bill Reid Amphitheatre, and the Noel Christmas Events. In 2017, they made history as the first country band to reach the finals of Hard Rock Casino’s Rock the Mic contest. Kyle’s singles “Woke Up with My Boots On” and “Bottlenecks” were recorded with BCCMA Producer of the Year Anthony Fiddler. The band is currently working on a new album with BCCMA Recording Professional of the Year nominee Jordain Culpepper at Studio Downe Under, with a new single set to release in 2025.

6:50-7:50pm: Bend Sinister

Bend Sinister, an indie rock band from Vancouver, has been creating music since 1999, blending influences from math rock, indie, prog, and alternative. Led by Dan Moxon (vocals/keys), the band’s sound features everything from Billy Joel ballads to Queens of the Stone Age riffs, combined with classical crescendos and rock sing-alongs. Over the years, they’ve toured across North America and Europe, playing major events like the Vancouver Olympics and Pop Montreal, and earned multiple award nominations.

Now signed to Cordova Bay Records, Moxon and bandmates Joseph Martin (guitar), Matt Rhode (bass), and Nick Petrowich (drums) are releasing their 7th full-length album, Mostly Great Things, on April 12, 2024. Produced by Ben Kaplan, the album is a product of years of collaborative effort, with each member contributing their unique influences. The band describes it as a mix of good times, rock and roll, and guitar solos, reflecting their enduring indie spirit.

Bandshell Stage Schedule

1:00pm – 2:00pm: Mechanics of Music

Mechanics of Music is a community-based music school in New Westminster offering fun, real-world music lessons for all ages. From private lessons to group workshops and performances, we help students build skills, confidence, and a love for music.

2:20pm – 2:50pm: Chinese Ribbon Dancer

Join Jessica Yue. The fan dance blends cursive movements, intricate patterns, and expressive postures to evoke the festive spirit and emotional depth of the moment. Complementing this is the ribbon dance, a colorful, theatrical display where flying ribbons symbolize joy, harmony, and celebration. The ribbon dance is based on a colorful, theatrical style of Chinese dance. The flying ribbons are symbols of joy and happiness.

3:30pm – 4:30pm: Limbo for All

King Fish is a charismatic entertainer who has been spreading joy and happiness through the art of limo for over 25 years. Through his ongoing dedication and passion for limbo, he’s emerged as a cultural ambassador, paying tribute to his heritage while also forging connections with those who may not be well-aquatinted with it. His performance brings a sense of joy to diverse audience, transcending the boundaries of age, race, and background.

5:30pm – 6:30pm: Rhythm Resource

Drum up a storm with Rhythm Resource. Interactive drumming fun for all ages! The “Cajon” is a versatile percussion instrument, originating in Peru. The Cajon is still widely undiscovered and this workshop is the perfect introduction for all ages. Release your Rhythm with our FULLY INTERACTIVE, energetic, tapping, clapping, drumming experience that brings a message of Diversity, Unity and Synergy. 

7:15pm-7:45pm: Royal City Hyack Cheer

Royal City Hyacks Cheer is a spirited, volunteer-led cheerleading program dedicated to supporting our teams and energizing our community. Open to youth ages 6 to 14, our program focuses on learning fun and engaging cheer chants, along with introductory Level 1 stunting and tumbling skills. Our mission goes beyond athletic skills; we aim to build confidence, teamwork, and community pride through every cheer and chant. Whether on the sidelines or at community events, our cheerleaders lead with heart, voice, and positive energy!
