The end of summer is fast approaching with only a few weeks left, so make your way to these exciting events happening in New West before the rainy days and early sunsets hit!

 

NEW WEST PRIDE STREET FESTIVAL

Kick-off the weekend by heading down to Columbia Street from 3 pm – 8 pm this Saturday to celebrate Pride in style! Enjoy three entertainment stages, a beer garden, food trucks, and more! Plus, don’t miss your chance to see legendary drag queens at Untoxicated including Naomi Smalls, Brook Lynn Hytes, and Yvie Oddly – to mention a few!

 

SKETCHING BY THE RIVER

Go with a loved one for a fun bonding activity or on a solo date to channel your inner artist under the guidance of a local artist at the River Market! You’ll learn how to capture the mighty Fraser River, and pick up a few tips and tricks along the way. It’s completely free and supplies are provided – you just have to show up and have a good time! There are two sessions left on August 16 and 23 so mark your calendars.

 

POETRY IN THE PARK

Every Wednesday from 6.30 pm – 8.30 pm until August 31st, established poets are featured at Queen’s Park. Each session has an open mic as well. If you would like to listen or share your own stage poetry, spoken word, short stories, or music, then this event will certainly be your cup of tea!

 

ROYAL CITY SOUND PIER NIGHTS

Head on over to Westminster Pier Park on August 19 for good vibes as Youth DJ’s take over for the night and mix music next to the river! There will be prizes and games at the park as well to top off the lively ambiance.

 

FAREWELL TO SUMMER FIREWORKS FESTIVAL 2022

Last but not least, spend the last Saturday of August saying goodbye to summer at New Westminster Quay with a spectacular display of fireworks over the Fraser River! It’s part of an all-day festival from 1 pm – 9.30 pm, so don’t miss out on the live entertainment, artisan vendors, and delicious food beforehand!
