@NewWestminsterFoodie Eats Her Way Through The Mouth-watering Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Festival

What a weekend for my very first takeover of the Tourism New West Instagram account.  It started off with my first visit to Friday’s on Front (I know, guilty as charged, but Friday’s are tough for me to rally) and so glad I did.  Such a great vibe, loved the music, vendors, and all the food choices (especially the part where I got to wash it all down with Pacific Breeze Winery wine and Steel & Oak beer). My friend and I decided to join forces and split the lobster sandwich from Crab Park Chowdery and the Cubano sandwich from Bread & Cheese, and I must say we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. It’s a great way to kick back and relax after a long week and I’m really looking forward to my next visit.

Then the next day was the Columbia StrEAT Food Truck Fest.  Every food truck you could imagine, tons of local vendors, fantastic music and gorgeous weather, made for another perfect day.  I ran into a couple of foodies I recognized (@itsjosheats & @vancityduo) and they were raving about the Frying Pan food truck, so I had to give it a shot…plus the line-up that had already started by 4:00pm was another sign that I had to make this my first stop. The highlights from that truck were the spicy fried chicken burger and the smoky beef bulgogi fries (I had to fight off my husband for the last fry)

And before we started into food truck territory we checked out the Anvil Centre as it tends to get busy in there later in the evening, and I wanted to first, crack at all the yummy samples in there. It was a great way to cool down before the feeding frenzy began.

A few more highlights from the day was stopping by another favourite truck of mine, The Island Time Food Truck for a beef Jamaican patty and the beef curry chow mein, and I must say it tasted better than ever. Also got to watch the Big Star Sandwich ‘sandwich slammin’ contest, I really wanted to enter, but chickened out last minute. Then watched Vancouver Circus School do things I only wish I could do, sniffed the gorgeous flowers at Fiore Republic Floral, listened to so many amazing musicians and got to peruse so many wonderful local vendors.
