Looking for a fun community event where you can dabble in international cuisines, meet new people, and enjoy performances, games, activities, as well as a beer garden? If so, you won’t want to miss On Your Block Festival this Saturday, July 9th from 1pm – 9pm!

On Your Block is a new festival organized by Odihi — a local non-profit organization that seeks to provide BIPOC women with opportunities and resources to achieve their highest potential in their education and careers. They described the festival as “a snapshot of the Lower Mainland,” as it’s an incredibly culturally diverse area, and the festival acts as a melting pot for different cultures to come together and connect — perfect for those of us wanting to meet new people and make new friends.
Saturday’s lineup boasts over fifty local vendors and small businesses, food trucks such as Crema Ice Cream & Desserts, Veg Out, Indish, and Wonderffle, as well as musical performances from Danny Gascho, Elizabeth Irving, DJ Oga Rossco, Tamami Maitland, and more. Plus, make sure to enter the giveaway for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including a signed Canucks jersey by J. T. Miller or BC Lions tickets!
Planning your commute? Tipperary Park is located right beside City Hall, and is only an eight-minute walk from Columbia Skytrain Station, or a nine-minute commute from New West station via the 106 bus. Featuring the adjacent friendship gardens, the park is a sight of beauty popular with wedding photographers. It is also home to the New Westminster Tennis Club, as well as the seasonal New West Farms Market and Cenotaph.
Odihi thanks New West Arts Council, Downtown New West BIA, and every other organization in New West that has sponsored their event and helped it come to life.
