This summer, the FRDC is delighted to offer extra programming during long weekends with Summer Discovery Days! There’s so much to see and discover on these long summer days, and we hope you’ll join us!
The Fraser River sustains rich biodiversity by offering diverse habitats. This month, we’re diving into the terrestrial ecosystem’s microscopic world! Join us in creating your own terrarium and observing microorganisms like tardigrades (commonly known as “water bears”) that will inhabit the terrarium. Test your creativity and challenge your companions by creating a wind-dispersed seed that can travel the greatest distance! Also join us for story time and creative crafts.
WHAT:
– Design your very own terrarium and learn about some natural patterns on the small scale
– Observe extremophile tardigrades (commonly known as “water bears”) using microscopes
– Create wind-dispersed seeds that can travel the greatest distance
– Drop in for story time and creative crafts
