Taking place on the last Saturday of each month, Super Weekend is a series of public programs geared toward families. There are lots of activities that explore different features of the Fraser River, from its booming industry to its diverse ecosystem!  

The Fraser Valley is full of fertile farms and fabulous foods, many of which have the Fraser River to thank! Join us from August 24th – 25th to learn about sustainable Indigenous fishing practices* and how the mighty Fraser makes growing food possible! 

*This activity draws from information found in the Our Bones are Made of Salmon exhibit, created in partnership with Musqueam Elder Larry Grant and Stó:lō Cultural Advisor Dr. Sonny McHalsie.  

WHAT: 

– Learn about nutrients carried by the Fraser’s current with a deposition bowling activity! 

– Map the bounty of foods that come out of the Fraser Valley! 

– Explore one of many Indigenous fish preparation methods with a guided demonstration!  

WHEN: Saturday, August 24th – 25th, 10:00am – 4:00pm 

WHERE: Fraser River Discovery Centre, 788 Quayside Drive, New Westminster, BC V3M 6Z6

COST: Included in admission to the Discovery Centre. Specific costs are listed below:  

– Family Ticket ($20.00 each) – for 2 adults and up to 4 children      

– Adult Ticket ($8.00) – adult 19 and older      

– Senior Ticket ($6.00) – senior 65 and older      

– Student Ticket ($6.00) – student ID required      

– Child ticket ($5.00) – children aged 3-12      

– Children 2 and under register for free 

 

Caretakers are asked to remain with their children for the duration of their visit.
